Nowadays, extended wear lenses are available that can be worn for longer duration.

If you experience eye irritation, redness of eyes, infection, or any other discomfort in your eyes, you should immediately discontinue using your lenses and seek doctor's advice.
Change Lenses
Contact lenses need to be replaced after sometime. You should consult your doctor regarding the same. There is usually a recommended contact lens replacement chart that comes with the lenses. If you do not replace your lenses on time, they may harm the eyes, as lenses tend to develop deposits on them that reduce their efficiency.
Use Ultraviolet Protected Lenses
It is best to use ultraviolet protected contact lenses for complete protection to your eyes. Wearing UV A and UV B protected sunglasses is also advisable.
Eye Makeup
If you use eye make up, make sure that the make up does not touch the lenses, otherwise the lenses may harbor bacteria. Always wear eye make up after wearing the lenses.
